Reported reason The Rock hasn’t returned to WWE

The Rock has been absent from WWE television since Elimination Chamber 2025, where he played a key role in John Cena’s shocking heel turn. Speculation about The Final Boss’ return arises around every major premium live event, but it has yet to come to fruition. Now, a report has shed some light on a possible reason behind his absence.

Steve Carrier of Ringside News stated that the reason why The Rock hasn’t returned to WWE was not his availability, but creative disagreement between him and the company.

“The whole “if The Rock is available for narrative” is an every year occurrence and has been for the last decade. It’s not even if he’s fully “available” either. It’s if he actually agrees or comes to terms what is laid out.”

Carrier went on to state that The Great One had been available on multiple occasions, but he couldn’t come to terms with the WWE creative.

“There have been multiple times on several occasions where he was available. However, WWE, creative and The Rock couldn’t come to terms.”

It remains to be seen when The Brahma Bull returns to the global juggernaut.

Eric Bischoff believes The Rock would compete at WrestleMania 43

Earlier this year, it was reported that the Saudi Arabian officials were in negotiations with The Final Boss to compete at WrestleMania 43. Eric Bischoff has now given his take on whether the veteran will return for The Show of Shows.

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff believed that The Great One would be on the card for ‘Mania next year.

“Maybe the audience has gotten more current and it’s a completely different environment, but my exposure six, seven years ago was they want older names that are not easily available, which makes me think Rock because if that same kind of vintage hangover, we’ll call it legacy hangover, is still part of the audience composition in terms of what they want to see. Those fans that are looking to the early 2000s or mid 2000s as the peak WWE period, you got Rock, you could bring John Cena in to participate. Couple other nice little moves and then balance the rest of the card out with younger talent. But I do see Rock on the card in Saudi for WrestleMania,” he said.

If The Final Boss does return, fans could see the dream match between him and Roman Reigns.
